Thread: Gearbox to issue patch w/ 'Thunderbird SSE' fix soon... details inside | Forums

The local game store only accepts refunds for BIA for another 2 weeks. Crummy policy but that's how they handle things... :/

I'm gonna keep the game for now and hopefully a fix will be revealed in this time frame so I won't have to return it. *crosses fingers*

EDIT: Burke has the link below with details on a possible fix that will be issued to BIA soon.

Sounds good... I know the chip is slow but it still functions fine for the moderately new games that have arrived. ;]

I was slightly worried because the same thing happened with Full Spectrum Warrior. It used SSE code and would not launch on non-SSE processors. A patch was never issued, however I don't blame them because in the requirements it did say Athlon XP.

I bet if Gearbox found out about this problem a long time ago they would simply mark the game as Athlon XP and wouldn't have to fix it, but Gearbox are nice guys and they are working on fixing it.

Hmmmm, that thread also mentions games like Rid**** with this problem. Funny how a relatively modern tech game like Doom 3 had no issues with this at all (thankfully). I was able to enjoy D3 with 35FPS on moderately good settings, but I know this ancient 1.4 TBird won't cut it anymore really soon. I plan on upgrading for Battlefield 2 anyways.

BTW... hope ya don't mind I changed the thread title, I know it's annoying having a million or so threads with the same question(s)... hopefully the people having this problem won't post new topics anymore after they see that it is being worked on.
