Pearl Harbour being bombed was one of the best disasters in the war. I dont mean any dis-respect to all lives lost and ruined during that fight. i know u americans think it was probably the worst thing, which it was, but in a way, if it wasnt for the great sacrafice those brave men made, Germany would have attacked USA with Japan, after seeing Britain off, and we would be no longer free, peace loving people. all i mean is it brought USA into the War, a war which britain couldnt have won alone. But 1 thing pisses me off. Most (not all) Americans think that only America won it, but even America could have won it alone on 2 fronts, cos lets face it, Hitler wanted USA as well. It makes me sad that even in The Simpsons, (u know, the yellow ppl) we are told that AMERICA won the War.
And just remember that Britain also faught in the pacific along side America...i bet not many ppl know that. (i saw it on the Discovery channel)
This isnt a Vendetta against the americans, all im saying is spare a thought for the British and the Canadian soldiers who fought, and died in WWI and WWII.
Ill tell you this. My grandfather never faught in the War, but he had to go to the Pacific once it was over, and clean up the ****ty mess that was left behind. He saw 1st hand what happened to the Americans AND The Brits at the hands of the Japanese. He just cant find it in him to go back there, and hasnt bought anything Japanese since the War. Hell, even Mitsubishi Motors enslaved these poor guys, after the Death March. Let me know wot u think, i wanna see other peoples view on this.

pearl harbor is one of the worst things that happened, no if's or buts about it.i know very few people who believe that only we won the war anyways , the brits ,canadians, poles, every allied country stopped the axis from destroying our lives in their own little way.

From reading WWII Hx books, I've concluded to some information. The Germans were on their heels before D-Day June 6 1944. The Russians had the germans retreating out of Russia. I do believe from the information I read the Russians could have defeated Germany by themselves. I think the main reason we got involve in Europe, is to prevent the Russian army from taking Europe.
Think about it Germany held all of Europe (mostly). So if Russia beat Germany then Russia could take clam to to all that the German's conquered. Also we all know Italy was not up to the match as Germany was in the war. Due to Germany bailing Italy out in N. Africa and other places. So Italy would have been no match for Russia either.
The Japanese were another story. But, China and Russia could have to combined together in order to take Japan out. Hell, they were closer to Japan than we were.

The Nazi's were sinking American shipping on the Eastern seaboard long before Pearl Harbour.
Sometimes in broad daylight, witnessed from shore.
Sometimes using the lights of cities like New York to silhouette their shots for better accuracy.

So the U.S. was in the war before they knew they were even in a war. Kind of like 9/11.

Thousands of private citizens crossed the border into Canada or went to Britain to join those country's militaries to fight the Germans.
(Both countries having declared war in 1939.)

American pilots went to help the Nationalist Chinese fight the Japanese as part of the famed Flying Tiger squadron.

My point is this: Others had declared war on America before America declared war on them.
And America's people were in the fight before the government 'by the people, for the people' got around to officially declaring war on behalf of their people.
Even then, Roosevelt's 'Lend-Lease' deal with Great Britain technically violated proclaimed American neutrality. Then again, President Bush's family made money selling munitions to the Nazi's.

Looking back, those were strange days indeed.


As for the Soviet Socialist Republics:

They could've, and surely would've beaten Nazi Germany on their own. But the war didn't turn against the Germans till 1942. Something the U.S. couldn't know or predict in 1941.

And don't forget Allied bombing of the Reich was a factor too. It wasn't as effective as they'd hoped it'd be. But it did have an effect.

The Soviets could've taken on and beaten the Japanese as well. (They'd already fought a war once before so there was bad blood between them.)
But given the Japanese bushido mentality and Soviet standard tactics, it would've been the worst bloodbath in all of human history.
Amd more bestial than the American experience was.

As for the Italians:
The Italians did mess up alot. (They'd invaded Ethiopia in the 30's and had all kinds of trouble there.) But their bullets could kill you just as dead as anyone else's: Just look at the misery they caused for the Allied garrison on Malta and the Maltese people with air attacks.

But that's just my take on things.

Yea thats true, and the japs wear **** afraid of them too. If america would of invaded japan the russians would of help them.

The attack on Pearl Harbor encouraged the Americans to start using aircraft carriers more often; which helped us win the war.

Dark Autumn the German war in Russia didnt turn in 1942. But in 1943
All hope of victory was lost at Kursk. Everything was thrown in at Kursk hoping to win.
But as we know the Russians knew the battle plan. And just chewed up the Germans.
Manstein had a plan in place of the Citadelle.
But Hitler didnt aprove. His plan was a more widespread atack south of kharkov, where the Russian forces were significantly more tired and somewhat weaker. Thus the probability of breaking trough was higher. The plan included the attack towards the don, than wheel to the north traping a large number of russians.
Well its not 1005 that it couldve succede but it wasnt as insane as the attack at Kursk.
