Ok so I bought SHIII, 2 weeks ago, and since then I am having a blast. Playing with manual targeting, and realism setting up to 86% (I think it is been great so far.

I've played the first silent hunter years ago and I remember how good it was. Going back to the same feeling is great. I've downloaded SH3Commander, but I could use and advice for any other mods that I should use.

I haven't been able to do 100k yet but I am very close. My max was so far 76k if I am not mistaking. But I am still at 1940 and using VIIC atm.

I haven't had a chance to see any battleships or carriers, but just once I saw a little warships convoy but they where fast and I didnt had a great opportunity to fight.

I have one question. If I am attacking something during the night I only use my sonar information, since I can't see anything. Is that the only way to handle night attacks? I mean periscope is useles, While I can lock the target I don't think it is any realistic since I can't even see it on my screen. And of course it is impossbile to do the range calculations when its that dark, with the periscope.

I got killed just once so far, which only happened in a foggy night when I was on surface, the C3 cargo came out from nowhere and rammed me!

Thank you, and I apologise for my english since its my second language

Hallo. And welcome. I tend to use the surface attack method at night. That is unless its a realy bright night. And with the 100K, look and you will see that most of them where made with VIIB's and some C's. Made Mine with a VIIB.

    BTW, whats your 1st launguge?

My first language is turkish. But I live in US.

Seems like I need to work on my strategys to go up for 100k

Well if the weather is bad and if you see a small merchant or something lower then 5k, do you still use torpedos to sink it or do you save your torpedos for bigger targetrs? I've haven't decided yet if I should skip such targets to save some ammuniton.

Well untill early to mid 1941 it's preaty easy to use to make a kill with a deck gun. I use the DG whenever possible. Getting 100K is more luck then skill. I mean if you have a good patrol and get 100K...... That's how it happens to the most of us, twards the end of a good patrol we do some math and realise holy s***! a few more ships and I got 100K. I mean since my 100K patrol the most Ive ever goten was 75K. Bagging a big ship(capital ships and liners) will defently help.

Hope your weekend is free, because you won't want to do anything else. So ship the girlfriend off,
get the kids to a babysitter(if you have any of those) and stock up on cereal bars and water for nourishment
