Thread: Graphics on PC? | Forums

  1. #1
    Hey,

I've SCCT on Xbox for a while now. I've heard a ton of good things about its graphics, but IMO, it doesn't really look that good.

The shadows look jagged, the resolution is bad, and the textures are pixelated/blurry when you get close to them.

I was hoping to see nice, crisp textures, smooth shadows, and high resolutions.

The box says that it doesn't support HD TV resolutions, so I guess that I couldn't have expected that. But for the rest, I was hoping for better.

So, I've been thinking of getting the PC version so I can see the game in it's full glory (assuming that the PC version actually has better graphics).

What is the highest resolution supported by the PC version?

Are the shadows smooth and not jagged?

Are the textures not blurry and pixelated up close?

Does it have AA and AF?

EDIT: Hmm, not sure if I posted this in the correct forum. It might be better in the PC one. Sorry.

Practically everything you mentioned is fixed in the PC version (in comparison to xbox)...

However to enable these features such as AA and AF...and run at high resolutions, you'll need a more than decent computer with high specs.

IT all depends on what graphics card u got. The max resolution is 1280 x 1024. (i think) The graphics are awesome when Maxed out (The graphics are so good, their a nominee for best graphics for G4's video game awards G-Phoria) I noticed that the Multiplayer Maps are more detailed in the PC version than they are in the xbox version.

Yeah, my sig expired ... So what ?

It's not completely dependant on the video card, as was the case with 'bottlenecking' them... you also need a decent CPU, ram, etc.

Anyways I think the main point is, you can only handle what your hardware is capable of (as xbox isnt really a great comparison vs. PC power)

The highest resolution on Single player is 1600x1200, Versus is 1280x1024.

Shadows on the Xbox version are equal to the PC version's set on low resolution, so increase that to make the shadows look nicer.

The game takes full advantage of SM 3.0, allowing you to have effects that arent on the Xbox version if you have a Geforce 6 series vid card. You can enable HDR rendering, Tone Mapping, Parallax Mapping, and Soft Shadowing.

The game has high quality textures, and supports up to 16x Anisotropic Filtering and 4x Antialiasing.

However, if you intend to play at 1600x1200 with effects on, you WILL need a pretty fast PC.

The graphics are absolutely sensational on the PC depending on your graphics card But seeing how 98%of the game is played with night vison on it dosnt really make a hell of a lot of difference. The times when night vision is off though its mind blowing.Still cant match Half life2 or Far cry

    Thanks for the information!

I'm upgrading my PC soon, and I'm sure it'll be able to handle anything SCCT can throw at me.

(3.2 GHz P4 HT, 2 GB Kingston HyperX, GeForce 6800 GT <-- What I'm planning on getting.)

    Anyways, thanks again!
