Thread: HD Collections | Forums

As many of you know, there is a trend of HD collections of older games that have come out recently and are coming out in the near future including the Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill, Devil May Cry and Shadows of Colossus/Ico.

Does anyone here have or plan to buy any HD collections? What series would you like to see in an HD collection in the future?

I have the MGS collection as I have never played anything past the first game on PS1. MGS 2 is ok but I'm looking forward more to the third game anyways.

I would love to see a Tenchu or maybe Syphon Filter collection.

They're shockingly lazy cash-ins that serve to make perfectly clear the fact that the games industry hasn't had a good idea in about 6 years. And I will buy them all...because the games industry hasn't had a good idea in about 6 years.

The only retail HD remake I own is Halo: Anniversary. I've also got BG&E, Perfect Dark, the original PoP and the original CoD on XBLA.

The big thing that they all have in common though is that they are games I never really played originally.

I wouldn't be against repurchasing an HD remake/collection of something I previously really enjoyed (I would kill for the original pre-gimmick Super Monkey Ball games on 360 with Live multiplayer) but so far, none of the games I was really into prior to this generation have gotten that treatment.

I dont mind them as a lot of the HD remakes are of games I never owned or only played because I borrowed them from people.

An HD remake of GTA3 or Crimson Skies would be nice.

If it had the online multiplayer, I would pay significantly more than I should for a remake of Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge.

I'd like to see Halo 2 get the HD treatment like Halo CE did. I imagine it's just a matter of time.

    Psychonauts
Knights of the Old Republic 1 & 2
    Jade Empire
    Fable

...just off the top of my head.

I'd like to see Nintendo hop on the HD collection bandwagon when the WiiU hits. HD remakes for Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, Kirby's Epic Yarn, both Zelda titles, etc? Sign me up.

...that fans have asked for. I consider it a service more than a cash-in, especially when you look at the fact that the current HD consoles don't have expansive backwards compatibility.

Honestly, I don't really see much difference between this and buying a Blu-ray edition of a movie that you already have on DVD. There are some things that you just want to see in high def.

I don't mind them at all, because they are just upgraded versions of games you already own but want to see in HD. If someone is not interested in them, they can ignore them completely. No harm done. I plan on getting the Silent Hill and MGS Collections in the near future, myself.

I have the Splinter Cell HD collection and the Halo Anniversary edition.

The Splinter Cell games held up over time. They're still just as good as they were when they first came out. Sure the facial animations aren't anywhere near today's standards, but the game play is what really matters and it's fantastic. If you never played the original three, which are the best in my opinion, I recommend getting it.

Halo on the other hand... the memories were much better. I honestly feel like I wasted $40 on it. It's just not as fun as I remembered it being. Which is kinda sad.

I DO wish they'd come out with Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six HD remakes. I don't even care if they changed the reticule only Ghost Recon HuD either. If they want to give us the weapon to go with it, that's awesome. If not, I'd still be all over that. I bought the original PSOne Classic Rainbow Six a few months ago and got ripped off basically. It's only stick setup is inverted, which is not how I, or most people for that matter, play. I really don't see why they didn't update that when they released it on the PS Store.

I wouldn't mind an HD remake of ESPN 2K5 - IMHO, still the best football game.
