i have a radeon 7500, 900 mhz, 128 mb of ram (i know its not enough but i'm dirt poor)
all settings are on the lowest except visibility which is on highest. i'm on 1024x768x16 with all video extensions off. dither, vertex arrays, and stipple are on. oh and bilinear filtering is on.
anyways the terrain sometimes disappears at very far distances. its kind of like a fraction of a square shaped black box where the terrain should be. note: this usually happens near horizon. the problem goes away to an extent at medium terrain detail, and it would probably go away entirely at higher details, but i don't have a good enough computer to run at that high of a setting.
if there is a way to get the terrain back it would be really nice. thanks

XP uses roughly 80-100 MB of ram on start up. IL2 and FB use roughly 390-400 mb of ram. Oleg can't get FB to run on 128mb.

Your ATI card is reading as PCI, not AGP . Is it a PCI card?
Increase refresh rate to min. 75Hz, higher if supported.
Lower sound hardare acceleration to Standard.

yes the card is a pci. unfortunately i don't have an agp slot in my p-o-s.
about the memory. you say that xp takes up 100 mb of ram, right? i usually keep my systray clean and i run the least amount of background programs at all times. but it still says i have ~100 megs of the page file used. why is this?

There is a huge difference between RAM and a page file.
First, MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS
Memory: 256 MB of RAM ( 512 MB is recommended)
The page file is located on your hard drive. Each time the sim has to access it, studders occur. With an adequate amount of RAM, all textures, ect., needed for the mission are stored there and accessed at a high speed.
Its summer, (or winter, depending on where you live) and a great time to get alittle side work for those needed computer upgrades.

i just assumed that the pc was using the page file because it had run out of ram. i thought maybe for some reason the comp was going to page files before using all the ram, or the ram was being taken up by weird things.

on a side note, i would buy ram, but my mobo uses PC133 sdram, and i'm trying to convince my mom we need a complete overhaul. i wouldnt want to spend 50 bucks on ram just so that i couldn't use it on my next comp (50 bucks takes me a while to raise, having no job and all; but i'm no bum, i'm just a teenager)
