Can't install patch 1.1 [de_menu.txt unknown version] | Forums

So when I try to install the 1.1 patch, it tells me it can't because de_menu.txt is an unknown version. I tried the repair installation option, and it didn't work. I completely deleted the game from my PC and reinstalled from scratch, and the patch still won't install.

Any ideas?

when u uninstalled, did it completely remove everything?


many games leave your save games and configuration files, as well as files that maybe were edited

I assume that u changed something in the file? removing the game paused text?

well u can either restore that temmporarily if u knew what it said or when reinstall, make sure the file was deleted too

Be sure to have the right patch
there is on for dvd and one for europa

I made sure the game directory was completely deleted when I uninstalled. It saves your careers and such in your My Documents for whatever windows user you're logged on as, so I didn't have to worry about that

I know for a fact though that de_menu.txt was deleted and then reinstalled.

The filename for the patch I have is silent_hunter_3_dvd_1.1_emea.exe

Is that the right one, or no? I've got whatever version is sold in the US on DVD.

That's the wrong patch. EMEA stands for Europe/Middle East/Asia. The one you want is silent_hunter_3_dvd_1.1_us.exe, or similar. There are download and dvd patches for both the US version and the EMEA version.
