Thread: Future Avatar Game Idea | Forums

Well, lets look to the future. Assuming we have sequels to the first film...which is starting to look highly likely given the MASSIVE positive response from critics...here is what I would like to see.

A first person shooter. Not a Third Person. Add in more RPG elements, greater character customization, stats might go well too, increasing hits etc. Then, mix that with the conquest mini game. Basically...the planet is split off into areas of control. The Na'Vi and the RDA each have a home base that cannot be attacked except under certain circumstances.

You can go to each of these territories and run randomly generated missions, or, run missions to capture the location. Each side has a base in each area that they can use to get vehicles and weapons and armour from. After completing a chain of missions, the final capture mission starts which could be anything from assaulting the opposing base to deforesting a particular area.

Only when a faction has all areas of the planet conquered, can it then launch an assault on the enemies home territory. Each of the territories conquered imparts bonuses on the faction. For instance, increased damage, access to certain vehicles or base defenses etc.

Now, if you want to add a story to all that, you could add in story quests into each area that the players can also run missions for.

Basically, it makes the game a sandbox and would make for some immense online multiplayer gaming.

So...what do you think? Good or bad idea?

This is sort of what I was hoping the game could do...

As a good comparison, I think that a system similar to Tom Clancy's EndWar might work.

In Endwar, they have a massive "World Battle Map" (I forget the name they use right now...) where there are several territories accross the globe. Players create a room in any of these territories, when the territory in question is "contested" -- that is, two sides are fighting over it.

In Endwar, it's a pseudo-strategy game (Not 1st- or 3rd- person, standard strategy-game overhead view)

I was thinking that a system like that could be done, but where it is a first-person fight. I feel that this would be much better than the current game.

Some of the ideas here are good to begin with
    - I really like the strategy-part, but it shouldn't become a main-aspect of the game imho. Just because not everyone likes strategy that much or wants to play it in the game.

If there is any direction I'd love the game to go, it's towards an mmo. It's got great potential, story-lines can be easily added, nice foundation of backstory, two sides, etc etc. Having this as a 3d person "shooter", but more as an mmo. I'd like to see this - unfortunatly, a great movie and story doesn't guarantee a great mmo.

In the end I just hope more of these movies will come, more background will appear (books, music, tales,...) and ofcourse other games.

Agreed, I feel that World of Warcraft did that very well with the Warcraft universe...
(Also, it made a boatload of money for the devs...*hint,hint*

But yeah, I personally feel that Avatar is either #1 or #2 in terms of my favorite movies, even with the rather predictable plot.

i wish there were more specific classes to choose from. but so far its fun... however without classes to play and the MP pretty stuffed... wont take me long to get bored.

if MP was good and running properly, it will make me stick to playing a bit longer... but if classes were added, i will stick with this game for a few more years. but if i had to level up skills like blacksmithing and stuff like that as similar to mmo's... i will be buying gold online. dont have time to be a robot just to find funds... i rather use that time in real life to make real money.

adding specific classes would be great. winning battles to give you currency to buy enchantments and better weaponary...

the equipment you wear should determine who you play up against... and what about linking all consoles and computer players together in online battle? sounds silly but would be great. might not work but what do i know? hehehehe... there will be advantages and disadvantages... wouldnt be very fair anyways.
