I bought Far Cry the day it came out, and have beaten it a bunch of times. I recently reformated my computer, installed the game, got patches, installed them, and checked every forum but could only find similar problems. They were close to mine, but there was always something different. Whenever I click to play Far Cry on my desktop, the box showing the two main characters loads, then it goes away and it shows my desktop. I also downloaded the newest drivers and everything. I have an GeforceFX 5200.

Right there is the problem. You downloaded the new drivers from Nvidia. It did the same thing to me when I tried to play FC.If those drivers were version 77.72 then FC will not load up! I would just rollback to the older drivers like 71.89.. Or if you got BF 2 use the ones that came with the game (ver.77.30) seems to work well.

Will do. I am downloading BF 2 now. I need that anyways. Killing two birds with one stone
