I have to admit it but im running my machine on a 128MB DDR.
Heres the question, Im planning to buy a DIMM. Is it ok if I mix a 256MB DDR to a 128MB DDR? My freinds tell me its ok but im asking your opinion and confirmation.

it's safe to mix 256 and 128 DDR, as long as they have the same speed or your motherboard support different speeds. For example, you could mix 128, 256 or 512MB DDR266 (PC2100), however don't mix slower speed SDRAM (PC100 or 133) memory with the faster DDR266,DDR333, or DDR400.
My advice is check your motherboard manuals, it should explain which memory it supports and which it doesn't. the motherboard manuals will also tell you the maximum amount of RAM your motherboard will handle.
Let me know if that helped.

Your friend is right.
One detail though: If your present RAM is - say - PC 2100 and you buy PC 2700 (DDR), the RAM are compatible but the slowest ones will decide and your 2700 thus run as 2100.

Greyhaired is right on the money. The memory is compatible, but all will run at the speed of the slowest stick.
The oly case, now, where you have to buy the exact same RAM is RAMBUS *shudder*

Thanks guys!
