    It is OK, but lacking.

Think of PC parts in terms of generations. Your card is a value card in the last generation of games. It should run last years games OK (not great). now we are at a transition period in games where we are seeing games and cards come out that take full advantage of DX9 and its many features. you card is a DX7 card. As engines like FarCry come out that are running on next generation game engines and DX9 and beyond your card is going to struggle.

You should consider an upgrade if you want to play FC and other similar next gen games that are coming out over the rest of this year and next.

I had a GeForce MX 420 64MB that certainly wasn't good enough, but yours, I dunno. Can't go wrong upgrading though.

accually the mx440 is a dx7 card. i had one my self and it ran the demo okay but you didnt get any of the goodies like water relfections and stuff since it doesnt have any pixel shaders. this is why i upgraded mine(plus the fan died and it kept overheating so i had to resort to onboard graphics..eeeewwwww). if your on a tight budget, you can hold off buying a new one for now or get a mid range card like a 9600 pro or xt, but if you have the money just grab a 9800 pro for 220 or a x800 pro for 445.

I have a geforce4 MX 128 MG DDR aswell, it handles the game okay, but not much else. Djungel looks nice even with my card, but the other parts are kinda messed up at times, especially indoors. I have NO money, so I wont be able to get a new card for a (long) while...which is kinda sad.

I think your graphics card will do the job. I have the MX420 Geforce 4 64mb and looks fine on medium graphics settings. I get a few glitches here and there but nothing major. Sometimes get a drop in fame rate when lots of people on screen shooting, more to do with my naff processor tho (1.1Ghz Intel Celeron!)If you have 512mb+ ram you should be fine. Try the demo first to see if it works just to be sure

Geforce 4 MX cards are really just fast Geforce 2 cards.

They lack even some of the feature set of the Geforce 3 series.

Search on it and you will find numerous articles and reviews warning consumers that these are NOT true Geforce 4 series cards and detailing the specific deficiencies these cards suffer from.

They do seem to be a popular choice for many mainstream PC systems, hence the influx of many Geforce 4 MX users coming into various message boards and wondering why their cards perform poorly, etc.

    Carry on.

    They suck.

The are a budget card (all MX range are budget).

It has no hardware vertex/pixel shader piplines. Compared to a 6800 ultra with 16 pipelines their is no comparison.

Beacuse you have your setting on medium does not mean your are getting them. You could have all the settings at max with your geforce mx420, but you would not actually be seing them.

The engine is scalable and depending on your hardware is what you will see. You wont be get any vertex/pixel shader effects.

Type r_displayinfo 1 in the console and see how many polygons you are displaying, not fps. I get around 150,000 on med and 750,000 on high. This engine is scalable so image quality is depends on your hardware.
