I'm quite curious that I should turn it on or not since I notice it doesn't help increasing framerate sometimes it reduced framerate instead. that weird!! like crytek has something tricky for ATI only but not for NVIDIA

do this if you got the 6800.
    \e_vegetation_sprites_distance_ratio 100

it turns on geom instancing and makes all trees render as polygons. i run farcry 1.2 in 1600x1200, 4xAA, 8xAF, SM30 and that command enabled and runs beautifuly. i have a bfg 6800 ultra oc. I also noticed i havent have polygons dissapearing with sm3.0 path since i installed directx 9c released version and used the fxc.exe from the sdk.

    turn geominstancing on
    Then type
    \e_vegetation_sprites_distance_ratio 100.0000

Geometry Instancing works on all DirectX 9.0 cards. You won't get any performance gains but what happens is the trees, grass, and bushes won't change to sprites at long distances. The game looks a ton better.

geominstancing turns on automatically when you turn the ratio to 100.
yes use the fxc.exe from the dx9c sdk they just released.
