Thread: Playing LOMAC on a Laptop | Forums

  1. #1
I plan on buying a laptop in a week or two, and I would like to know if this sounds like a sound choice to play LOMAC with medium graphics turned on.

Or how about this cheaper choice with a 1GB RAM upgrade?

The first one does not list the graphics chip. If it's an Intel chip, it will not be compatible with DX8.1, and most likely will have texture problems and/or blue screen issues with Lomac.

The second one uses a Celeron processor. Those, to be blunt, suck. Though it's rated at 2.8Ghz, it will perform about as good as a 2.0Ghz P4 or less. The 9000 mobility is better than Intel's, but still not a gaming chip. It will struggle with the graphics.

Ideally, you need a P4 with a good vid solution like the 9700 mobility. Anything less and you are not going to have a great gaming experience. Laptops, in general, are not meant for gaming so I would not expect great performance from any of them.

Thanks for the info. I don't know much about computers, so it was helpful getting the warinings about the video cards and the Celeron processor.

I didn't know laptops sucked at gaming..even the high-end 3.0Ghz ones. Now I might buy a desktop instead. They're much cheaper.

same problem with me, can not buy a desktop.
    I was thinking about a 2.8 P4, 512 MB.

for the graphic card, what do u suggest me? a ATI 9000 with 128 mb or a a 9200 with 64mb?

ontop suggest a card with 128mb?

actually I have a graphic card of 16mb, an ontop is NOT working.
