Thread: FPS drop with patch 1.53 Moved to Self Help--->>> | Forums

  1. #1
Hi, I dont play RvS that regularly but like to play online. I have noticed a huge drop in fps since the last two patches. It is still playable but its only at about 30 -50. I have rvs on the lowest settings at 800x600. My specs are 2.26 Ghz P4, 512 Mb Ram, Radeon 9700 Pro Gfx card.

This is not the sort of computer that I should need to play RvS on the lowest settings to get a good FPS. When RvS was released this set up was top notch, therefore I should not have any problems playing it.

It can only be piss poor design that has lead to this, i simply should get a better fps.

I don't think it's the patch, as I'm at 1.53 on both my computers, and my athlon 2200+ radeon 9600 pro machine runs it at 90 fps on 1280x1024, low settings. It may be your memory, and you may have background apps hogging your RAM bandwidth. Try disabling any services and programs that you don't need open while playing, and see what happens.

I get 29 at the lowest on penthouse in the garden. I know my problem though, I need a faster processor. As soon as I get some more cash, I'm upgrading to a 3000+, or even a 64bit 3200+ and new mobo. I need alot to do that though, like registered ram and more SATA drives. My pentium 3.2 and radeon 9800 pro work fine thoguh, dont get less than 60 fps.

I copy that, I have a P4 3,2; 1 gig ram and still my old GF 4 ti 4600, i used to have 80-90 fps, but since 1.52 then 1.53 the frames droped down very badl yto something like 50 or even less with smoke.
I didnt chance anything on any ini nor drivers nor else, so it is the patch. nothing else then the patch and the way they tried to fix something.

Yep same here, guess this "wall-peak-glitch" was fixed on a way which decreases fps performance.

This game gets only worse like said
