Thread: Props to the most mature players I've seen yet! | Forums

My brother (Nokturnus) and I play the SCPT demo often and do fairly well due to the hours we put into it, and our use of good teamwork.

My beef is how many players will simply leave a game as soon as they begin to lose (die a few times or see a few ND133s get hacked). We literally run into this problem at least three out of four games, and it gets old fast.

It's really frusterating to have to play a Merc and be looking forward to your turn as a Spy, only to have the host leave because he wants to play someone with less skill.

Anyway, I find that very few players conduct themselves in a mature manner, and the ones that will stay in the game even after losing a game are even fewer.

This evening I played against Darkenedflame and Onyblonx. The game was close but my brother and I won the round, only to be stunned by their response. These two awesome players said they didn't mind losing now and then, that it helped them realize there was always room for improvement. They stayed and we played several more rounds.

My hat goes off to these very skilled and mature gamers, who deserve to be respected if you're on their team, and feared if you face off against them

i agree, players that drop out of games when they are loosing is realy annoying. i dont mind loosing, winning all the time to easy players gets boring and requires no skill at all. when i host a game i usualy play for 10games and loose around half-1/4 of em.

Its good to know that there are still players who are nice to each other

you can always tell the nice people apart. they're the ones who say hello when you join, and restart when ur partnet leaves, stop the game to let you in, and talk to you.

i keep losing con right after i die or a match is over. so dont always blame the players. but ya, there are alot of ppl who just dont like to lose, thats why i play spy first, that way i know they will atleast stay for 1 full map lol.

EXACTLY!!!!! there's nothing worse than some "insert expletive of choice" that won't talk to you (except of course for those that can't speak English) and plays like a moron. I also REALLY hate it when people quit cause they're gettin spanked.

I LIKE playing with people that are better than me.... actually, I PREFER it. That's the best way to learn. I love playing against my clan leader cause he's about 5 times better than I am. I lose the vast majority of the time but you know what? I spend an afternoon playing against him and I learn A LOT and my game is improved. (even though he is a cocky little bugger )

I just wish everyone could look at losing as a learning opportunity.

Several folks are trying to build a community of SCPT players who are mature enough to stick around if they're losing (or winning), stay for both revenge rounds, and most of whom, if not all, have mics.

Weird and I tend to give invites to those who happen to stick around even if their teammates leave them high and dry... we really appreciate players who know how to win and lose gracefully. That said, if you're looking for a player-base that doesn't leave when they lose and knows how to just have fun, stop by our IRC channel:

You can get an IRC client @ http://www.mirc.com if you don't have it.
