I read the following in a Lomac thread:
"In BIOS make your graphic aperture 64 MB if you have 256 RAM, 128 for 512-768 RAM, and 256 for 1GB+."
Is this recommended here? I always thought the aperture pertained to the MB's on the graphics card.

I was also a bit confused of what this Bios setting does, until I found this article:

Might offer some help to you on the subject..
There is no straight answer on this. Regardless of RAM amount some games run better with 64 aperture size, some 128 and some of course 256.
Also to be remembered if you have a Radeon video card like 9x00 series if you put your AGP Aperture size to big and use large system cache it can cause data corruptions and you may be forced to reformat windows if you use windows XP especially.

Also some games donâ´t run stable at 256 while they do at smaller Aperture sizes.
But the difference in performance is generally dismissal. I do run mine currently at 256. Will do so until I encounter any problems. Not since I see any real performance gain on my 9700 PRO.

Notes:
For the new trees to render it is required that: you video card has no less than 128 Mb of RAM, and BIOS AGP memory (Aperture Size) set to no less than 128 Mb. Recommeded video cards for the option are GeForce 4, GeForce 5600 and newer, ATI Radeon 9700 and newer.

Interesting stuff. Thanks both for your comments. I do have a Ati 9700 Pro and a Barton 3000+ which I believe has a larger cache than lower numbered CPU's. If that means anything in this regard!
Ran Black Death at 128 and 256MB and there was no change in frame rates. But I could swear the graphics look a lot better at 256MB. My imagination? Maybe.

But if the readme is true it should work with 128 too so it probably was your imagination.
Anyway CPU cache donâ´t matter at all in this aspect.
Ok, maybe my math is off, but have we been lied to all along by UBISoft? If the AGP takes up 128 for a system with 512 of RAM and everything I've read says this is the correct setting, then the game uses 400+MB and the operating system uses 80-160 depending on what operating system you have and how far you strip it down. Somehow, the math just doesn't seem to work here!
