There is almost no reason to wait to buy a hard drive. The technology price curve for hard drives is a pretty consistant. That may change in the next 10 years or so, but until then, buy whatever seems like a good deal.

AMD XP 3200+ or intel P4 3.06Ghz
or...
AMD 64 3200+ or P4 3.06
I dont know, as the amd cpu's dont seem to be measured in hz?

If you want to go insane, you can buy the Intel P4 3.2GHz Extreme Edition processor for $1,000. By the way, the normal P4 is up to 3.4GHz now.

The P4 is better for video editing, but the AMD 64 is better for games, if you get the AMD 64 3200+ or up, don't get the 3000+, it doesn't have much on chip memory. The P4 3.00 800FSB can be overclocked very nicely, but remember what I said about applications.

I think I'll go for the AMD. I will use the pc mainly for games. I probably wont get the net I have a central comp the whole family uses with broadband, so I dont need the net. If I want files like patches drivers etc, I can just burn em to CDRW and copy em over.
I noticed that there is a big gap between the amd 64 3000 and 3200, and the 3200 is only 10⣠more, (310â£) so I will probs go for the AMD, as I can put windows on it, and man I'll be set.
What is better TFT Screens or Monitors.
I'm not sure. Do tft screens offer the same graphics quality as monitors??
I think this question is a little out of scope for this forum. Meaning the answer is lot more involved. There are plenty of websites that give pros and cons to each display type.
Personally, I prefer CRT monitors still. Mainly because of all the games I play at different resolutions. I've haven't seen an LCD screen that scales non native resolutions well. Presumably this is a function of the graphics card, but consumer grade level cards don't do this very good. That I am aware of.
Agreed. The LCD monitors are cool and all, but they don't have the great CRT feel to them. I have a Samsung 900DF that I'm using, and it's great.
