    Hi,

I'm trying to run MYST (the original) and am (was) getting the following error:

"Myst requires a 256-color palettized display driver."

I am using a 1.4 GHz Pentium 4 with 128 MB RAM - my video card is a 32MB DDR NVIDIA GeForce2 GTS, set to 16-bit color. I've reset my colors to 256 instead of 16-bit, and the game at least starts up now. My question is, is this normal/necessary? Do I have to reset my resolution every time I want to play?

    ---edit---
Sorry, I didn't mean to put this in the QT thread. Well, I did, but that was before I un/reinstalled QT & Myst and realized that it's not a QT problem I'm having. Arg...

You should restart this question in your own thread. It will get lost here.

Have you read the information about the Quicktime files etc for the different Myst games? They are in the top of this thread and may solve your problems. If they don't please start a new thread with specifics about your system and describe your problem.

For Mac users & maybe PC users too:

I just installed QuickTime Pro v 6.0 and tried it out on Exile. It works the same as QT5 on my PowerMac 8500/500 MHz G3, which is to say just fine. It does not fix my little problems in the amateria iceball hangar, but then nothing else seems to either, including the latest (July 2002) ATI Radeon driver.
