maybe a good way to advertise POTS is to have fans host conventions in there town!
not only would it advertise POTS but it may also bring new fans for the MYST series!
(we might need a little help from CYAN tho...)

I wouldn't mind a world-wide one. Find a time and place that suits US, Europe, UK and Australia if you can.

plus you would get alot more ppl who have not heard the MYST! I tell my friends about MYST and they've never heard of it so...
There is a fan convention (sort of) for games in the Myst series, called Mysterium. It has occurred in the US for several years. I'm not sure if there ever was one outside of the US. It is very small, more like a club event, than a convention. In most of the Mysteriums in the past there has been a presentation of an upcoming game, though there is generally no guarantee that that will happen in future Mysteriums.
I'm hesitant to say what exactly Mysterium is - is it a fan convention, like the science fiction conventions I attend? (I've just been to Baycon, the San Francisco Bay convention, and I went to the world science fiction convention last year (ConJose), it was held in San Jose. California.) Is Mysterium a convention like a Star Trek convention, or another game convention? I'd say no, becase Mysterium has specific rules on advertising (none of it), and you don't get to buy anything. However, they almost always do Myst game series demos, which is a kind of an advertisement for the games. Perhaps someone else could step in here and say what Mysterium is.
Here's the link.

I think a different sort of game convention would be a swell idea, along with the excellent Mysterium.

Mysterium is, more than anything else, a chance to hang out with friends you've made online, which sort of puts it more in a class by itself (or at least, a class outside the entertainment industry's definition of "convention"). Yes, it's centered around the Myst games, and there've been presentations for Myst products every year on behalf of the developers of those products, but to many people that's just icing on the cake. What makes Mysterium isn't the 10-minute (or in 2002's case, the 2-hour) presentation of the next game, but the Saturday night conversations at 2:00 AM, trying not to get hit by cars on the street on your way to dinner with 12 other people, the carpooling, the sightseeing, and the storytelling.
For that reason, I don't think turning Mysterium into a massive Convention Center-filling extravaganza blow-out would be a good idea at all. That, and it doesn't exactly go with the current fee for attending Mysterium, which is 0$ (you do have to pay for food, gas, hotel room, etc. obviously, but there's no charge to get "into" Mysterium itself).

Where is this Mysterium convention, and when?

It changes every year to make it easier for different people to attend, but this year it's July 21-23 in Toronto Canada. Come one, come all, to the craziest show in town.
Your best source for Mysterium information is http://www.mysterium.net
(We actually made the newspaper when we were in Carlsbad in 2001... I don't think they ever knew what hit 'em)

I would love to come but they are always too far away for us Europeans
The travelling isn't the issue - it's the cost of the flights and then the accommodation that causes us a problem.
