I would actually mention Guthrie Govan. Not that he doesn't get the praise he deserves, but the fact that he was unknown for me until quite recently. His name should be much more exposed than it is in my opinion.

There are a multitude of players who I'd consider underrated here's just a few off the top of my head

Vito Bratta of White Lion aka the only guitarist who has made tapping sound melodic. He hardly ever gets any major mention from the public or major magazines, but as a songwriter and a player he was astonishing, just listen to his solo on Wait

Buck Dharma of Blue Oyster Cult, a band typically and unfairly labeled as a 3-hit wonder despite having penned so many amazing tracks, check out his playing on Dominance and Submission specifically @4:30

or how about this live version of "Veteran of Psychic Wars" @2:37 one of the best guitar solos ever

another is Mark Kendall of Great White, or as I call him "the most economical guitar player ever", not because he doesn't play a lot of notes, because he knows how to get the most out of every note that he plays

I agree with hangman, Ty Tabor from King's X, a truly fantastic guitar player that this game desperately needs among many others underated and well known alike.

Gary Richrath, REO Speedwagon, may he rest in peace.

And though he gained weight towards the end, he still rocked it like he was in his 20's!

I miss you, sweet Gary. Rock on!

I don't know many people both young or old who ever listened to Spirit at length during their history and I know a lot of people with long histories as music lovers. They never really got as big as other bands during the British Invasion. Between what The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Stones, Pink Floyd and so many other bands coming out of the late 60's and early 70's, they just didn't have the commercial success that a lot of other bands had. I mean, I only know "I Got a Line on You" because Kim Mitchell of Max Webster fame covered it a number of years ago. Can't say that Spirit ever got the commercial success then or now that they deserved, which is indicative of why Randy California is underrated.

I totally agree to what you say. Probably I would'nt even had known about Randy and Spirit if I did'nt had the luck of watching one of the Rockpalatz TV shows one late night in the 70*s.

Here is another video clip with Randy Calefornia on his own. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_I3ny1f_ZaU
