Angry Static, noise, low guitar volume, game unplayable

As with similar issues I have read on hear, my rocksmith 2014 started getting noisy. One day it would be clean, the next I would get a message that the guitar was "too quiet". It would suddenly do it in the middle of a riff repeater. Turning the PS3 off and on worked for a while, but not anymore. Tried different guitars, and same thing. Just the plug not plugged into anything gets nothing but noise. I thought it might be a bad cable to ordered a new one. Same problem. I then tried plugging into the other USB port. Did not fix. This means it is either software (Rocksmith) or hardware (bad PS3). With the large number of posts with a similar problem on both PS3 & PS4 I'm leaning towards a software issue. If I delete the game data and reinstall the game, will this give me a clean install or would I also have to delete the save data?

    Any advise?

    Also, recalibrating has no effect.

People have had luck by powering off their console and powering it back up.

Not a perfect solution, but a possible work around.
