The 1.01 patch installed the game executables in my Windows system directory instead of my Beyond Good and Evil directory. The crash after the hangar was happening because I was running the old executables even though I had run the patch. I fixed the problem by uninstalling the entire app, deleting CheckApplication.exe, SettingsApplication.exe, and bge.exe from my c:\winnt directory. Then I reinstalled BG&E and re-ran the 1.01 patch.

To see if you have the same problem check the date of the file bge.exe in your install directory, usually "C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Beyond Good & Evil\bge.exe". The unpatched bge.exe is dated something like 11/08/03. The 1.01 bge.exe is dated 12/03/03.

Also, I ran into another problem when I ran the repair option during the uninstall. It ran ok, but the uninstall crashed when I tried to do the complete uninstall later. To fix that I ran regedit and deleted all BG&E related keys that contained "ubisoft" and/or "Beyond Good & Evil".

I hope this will help someone else who ran the 1.01 patch but is still seeing problems.

"App" is short for application, in other words, I uninstalled the entire game Beyond Good and Evil. I found that the patch had installed new files in my Windows system folder instead of the game folder. My Windows system folder is "C:\winnt", yours may be in "C:\windows". Good luck.
