Constant Freezing + Rebooting | Forums

I have read several Posts + several cures addressing this problem in particular. My problem specifically is - when I get to Planes screen ( I WAIT 10 sec. before making any selection ) = cure I read , ANY selection I make has a 50/50 chance of working or freezing. This is very FLAKEY ,when IL2 came out we had several problems, followed by several patches with its fair share of system setting changes. The community help + the Folks at MADDOX worked well in addressing all the little Bugs, until the game ran RELIABLE WELL. I don't get this feeling from the LOCK-ON team. All the help out there seems to come from (very computer literate hardware + software specialists)who enjoy the game and want others to have the same experience =THANK YOU = . Problem for me is that I PAID MONEY for a game that runs 50% of the time the other 50% I have to REBOOT and wait and hope and wait and hope and so on. Consequencially I have spent alot of time either trying to play the game or READING through all the online help. I think LOCK-ON could be a REAL GOOD game if the STUPID problems are PATCHED. I am not about to reconfiguer a GOOD Computer in order to play LOCK-ON. IL2-ace runs smooth so why doesn,t LOCK-ON , all my other programs run smooth so why doesn,t LOCK-ON. I will spare you the DX-DIAG my system is fine.
A couple of Rum & Cokes and I can really rant = but come on I just want to Click & PLAY thats what I PAID for, I shouldn,t need a degree in computer science to force this game to run ( it should do that all by itself ) AM I WRONG HERE ?
Don,t get me wrong , I,m not *****en ,every game has development problems but the LOCK-ON team either Doesn't Know about them ,Doesn't know how to fix them or Couldn't care less!
Either way where are the patches, Thats all I want.

HI There MD,

well I had the same problem, the trick is to disable non-essential services (I presume you a re runing WinXP), also I have a little program called End-It-All, which was freeware, now you have to purchase it. It actually kills all non-essential processes running and the game loads about 10 times faster than normal, I read the other day in the general forum I think, that there is another utility that does the same thing, I have downloaded it, but do not have it here with me, will be glad to email it to you if you wish. There is also another site black viper I think, which tells you how to configure XP as a gaming machine, I will check all these details and then post them in here, for everyone's benefit, yeah I know, it can be frustrating to say the least, hang in htere help is on the way

this site is going to take some time to get through but what I've read so far it seems to be a good site. I will let you know if it works after all the changes are complete and tested.
