I also had the crash to desktop bug whenever I tried to join a server...

BUT...
I tried going into the server list and selecting a game via that, it's worked almost every time so far. It seems that the quick match thing is what makes it crash (in my experience anyway). Try it out, it's worth a shot.

EDIT: After trying some more, it seems that the Server List thing still crashes a lot...perhaps this isn't the problem, but I've had a lot more success with the Server List than the Quick Match
