I have a question and a suggestion regarding Dedicated Hosts:

When I create slots for friends, does this mean only friends can use those slots - or can their invites/friends also use these slots?

Because I've left my box on as a Dedicated Host to come to my TV and listen to people trying to restrict weapons an/or asking people to leave so that they can get their clanmates on for clan matches.

Obviously I restricted no weapons, so where do these people get off?

I'd like to to set it to host for my friends and their friends only. Will making 14/14 slots for friends allow for this?

My suggestion would be to be able to set my server to only serve during scheduled times. There are bandwidth considerations and wear and tear on my Xbox.

A household may use more or less bandwidth during certain times of day, so it might be a good idea to be able to schedule when it [the Xbox] serves. Thsi way players won't be affected by little Johnny using Kazaa.

Yeah they can, they can team kill and be general scmhucks.

Let's say I turn on Punish Team Killer.

    They they kill, drop, return.

Or they flashbang the crap out of the person they want to get rid of or simply leave him compeltely unsupported.

I think everyone has had some sort of bad experience with XBL and *******s getting excessive with trash talk and whatnot. Anyone would leave after putting up with a round or two of that.

You can set up a friends only dedicated server by making the number of revserved friends slots equal the number of possible players. However, there is something twitchy about how that works right now. People on the server friends list will only be able to join some of the time, even when available player slots are open. I've experienced this unfortunate bug myself when testing my dedicated server from my second Live account. The good news is that I believe BulletTooth.50 stated they were working on fixing this problem of being unable to join friend games for the next patch.

Also, I believe it is true that once a friend of the server join, he can invite anyone into the game who is on his friends list (regardless of whether his list matches the server's).

I think this is one of the bugs they are supposed to be fixing. People who setup dedicated hosts and set the friends slots find that their friends can't get in, even if the slots are free.

As for letting 'friends of friends' play I don't know about that... it would seem that this would be a GOOD thing.

Yeah I have this same problem. I set up a dedicated server and then I go in and listen later on, and some tools are saying things like:

"Hey so and so has a .50 cal. Everybody on the red team it's your responsibility to team kill this guy until he changes his weapon."

    To that I say "BOOT!"

Seriously. This is why I wish there was at least a small area on the server screen where hosts can type a small message. I'm not a fan of the .50 cal myself, but it's annoying to see people trying to take control of my server like that.

A feature for only allowing friends and their friends would be a good thing. It would have to be only one level deep though, so that everyone isn't inviting their friends and their friends and so on. Just my friends can invite their friends, but that's it. That would be a good feature.

    Good idea though.
