Thread: Noobs are people too? | Forums

Now I may be a noob here but i've done my fair share of forum posting! One thing that is always a given is that the biggest insult is to call someone a noob?

I'm sure many of you are guilty of it (i know i'am), but why do people always resort to it. I'm sure most of you are inteligent adults, or at least getting there so why do we have such a problem with the oppinion of someone who is new to the community. Are their oppinions any less valid because they have spent less time playing said game? Isn't it refreshing to see things from someone elses point of view? Without the noobs would these forums be as alive as they are.

So after that rant, what is my point? Maybe it is that we should all give the so called noobs a bit more time of day instead of ****ging them off straight away? Or maybe people should just be more constructive? Or you could just judge for your self....

Since the term 'noob' is almost invariably employed by juvenile morons, I wouldn't be too insulted by it.

I totally agree. I personally think that anyone that refers to another user as a 'newbie' or 'n00b' should be warned, with the next offense being a banning. This kind of bigheaded ignorance is one of the main staples of forums dying. Who the hell wants to try and dicuss any topic with a bunch of idiots who think a rank, or forum title gives them superiority? Not me.

Everybody is a newbie one time at something. Some people get angry when people play a game and don't read the rules or instructions. They play poorly and let the team down.

If people want to play as a team they need to work on their skills. They also have to stop saying stupid things like:

"I never saw this map before"

    "I'm lost! Where am I?"

    "What team are we?"

"What weapons do you unlock on this game"

    "How do you change weapons?"

    I could do on!

"noob" and "n00b" are just alternative spellings of "newbie". The "b" in "noob" is pronounced as if you were saying the alphabet: A, Bee, See, Dee, E, Eff, Gee, etc... That's where nooB came from.

The problem is that newbies to noob pronounce it like boob which makes the history of the word muddied at best.

And that, folks, is your Internet etymology lesson for the day.
