Thread: Playing/watching games | Forums

I am using the registered version. I can connect fine to the server and see the games, but if I attempt to watch or play, I get a Time Limit Expired, please retry! message or a Cannot connect to session message. I tried turning off my firewall completely but that did not help. Then I turned off XP's firewall, installed Zone Alarm and that didn't work. Anyone else have this problem? I can't figure out how to open the right ports, though I would assume that without a firewall they would be open. HELP!

Yeah, I'm getting the same thing. I'm running Zone Alarm also, but I get it even with Zone Alarm shut off.

It looks like UBI fumbled the online component once again. Playing chess online shouldn't be anywhere near this hard; I never have a single problem with Fritz.

    Hi,
I had the same problem.I would try to watch a game or accept a challenge and I would get a timeout error after it tried to validate my CD code. What I found was that my McAffee internet security software(firewall) was the problem.Even when I would shut down my internet security/firewall I would still get "timeout error please try again".What I found is I uninstalled my McAffee internet security program and everything worked fine.Since I use Roadrunner high speed I decided to use their free firewall/virus protection software and after downloading and installing it the program has ran perfectly and I can now play and watch online. So I would suspect your firewall is the problem it is not the website or chessmaster software.
