I see alot of B-1's and Ospreys where I live, but the other day on the freeway driving I spotted not one, but 2 F14's in formation, in swept back wing configuration which flew just in front of me about 600 feet above the deck!!!!

I was yellin and screaming and givin them a wave and thumbs up- I would bet the people around me driving thought that I had gone crazy or something! They were amazing to see!

I see them. They're directly beneath the Earth's sun..... .... ...NOW.

Whoops, should have raised the sarcasm flag. What I meant to say was, this story might be more interesting if you told us more about the location than 600 feet above the freeway. In fact, if you see so many planes, I think it would be cool if you told us about where you live and more details about what you see.

Well where I live is kinda my own personal business and doesnt matter as far as how great these planes looked to me twelve, but since you asked, Im located in the Texas Panhandle. Thats whats so special about seeing F14's, here, 800 miles from any salt water... And the fact that I have not in seen any before hand other than TV, if memory serves correctly...

Nothing beats Jet Fighter flying right overhead.

    Very cool.
As I kid I lived in England (back in 70-72), and
We had a large field right in front of our house. One Day two RAF Harriers was scraping rooftops of our housing complex and it was just so amazing for me at that age and they were so close you could read the serial numbers engraved on each rivet.

And they were going, I'd guess 4-500knots.
What a sight. Never forget it. I ran towards
my house to get to the roof top to see more,
but after 2 steps, I realized they were already gone.

Later as a adult and in the service myself I learned it was a feasibility study of a attack of a AFB (the old Mildenhall Base was the test bed I think) and a test of the defense systems of the base.

So yeah. I know what your talking about.

Ahhh, your post brought back some great memories of when I have seen F-14's. Such a beautiful aircraft, I first saw it at the Canadian International Air Show in Toronto, and then later when I went to NAS Oceana. At Oceana it was so great, F-14/18's were doing touch & go's for the better part of an afternoon. Then a flight of them took off, ended up coming back at sunset. The barracks I was in is lined up with one of the runways, and so on final they flew right over. I was just watching them in the pattern as I polished my boots. The base I was at is some joint reserve base, not sure what its called but its very close to NAS Oceana and NAVSTA Norfolk. Anyone know? I envy anyone who lives near any fighter base, especially if its NAS Oceana or NAS Lemoore.

I use to live about 20 miles from Lemoore, they have some beauitful house there also. Jets fly over my house (high up but they fly over). My mom still lives there, I was there last summer.

I live in Siilinjärvi, Finland. Base of Karelia air command is situated at Rissala airport just about 10km from here. I got to see Hornet fly-overs quite often. Also Finnair's MD-10s landing to Rissala airport tend to fly just over our house. Pretty good place to be aviation fanatic in Finland

I saw lot's of Mig-21s and Saab Drakens as a child, now its only Hornets and occasionally Hawks

During my time as an MP in the Royal Norwegian Air Force, I was lucky enough to be stationed at a base with 2 F-16 Squadrons... I LOVE the Viper
