Thread: Possible LIVE bug | Forums

  1. #1
    Hi,
I have searched, as best as I could, the forum for anything related to this, but I could not find anything. So please forgive me if this has already been covered.

The problem seems to be in XBOX Live for RB63, when I try and host a Terrorsit Hunt or Mission and only allow two players. I am running a non-dedicated server.

Me and a friend each try playing Terrorsit Hunt or a mission. Whoever is hosting does not seem to have any problems. But the "guest" has severe glitching and is kicked off the server almost every single game (at least 80% of the time). The problem seems to be worse on Terrrist Hunt than on a Mission, but it is very annoying on either one.

Both me and my friend have no problems when we join another server and play sharpshooter or some other game. In fact, i have never been glitched off a server other than the above times that i mentioned. and the same for my friend. Additionally, we both live in the same city and have 3 stars (for our connection speed) the whole time we are connected. I feel confident that this is not an internet issue, but a RB63 (LIVE) issue.

Is this a known problem? Is there any workaround (chaning to veteran instead of elite, or no gernade launchers, etc.)? Were these games not designed to only have 2 players? Has anyone else tried/expeerienced this?

Any information in this matter would be appreciated. Thanks.

Have you attempted to host any Team Survival, Sharpshooter, Survival games yet, and if so what happens.

What's your internets upload speed?? If your not aware of it go to www.dslreports.com and test it there, its pretty accurate....

If you don't have a very high U/L speed that may be the reason for the lack of ability to host games....

That may help us a bit to determine what the problem is....

Here is exactly what my speeds are from the site you recommended (which is a great site, by the way):

    2004-05-29 23:33:18 EST: 2848 / 352
Your download speed : 2916493 bps, or 2848 kbps.
    A 356 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 360960 bps, or 352 kbps.

It appears that the upload may a little slow (but it is still relatively fast), but I am not sure what the minimum recommended speed would be for hosting a game. Is there information out there about this?

Is this a possible problem? Or does it seem unrelated at this point?

    Thank you for your help,
    Paul

Oops, sorry. I forgot to answer you first question.
I hosted (with just my friend and I playing) a Sharshooter and a Survival and we had no problems. No lag or glitches that were noticable for XBL.
I have not tried hosting a Team Survival. And I have not tried hosting for anything other than me a 2 player Max game.
These tests had led me to believe that it may be a RB63 issue.

    Thank you,
    Paul

The speeds you tested with are more than enough to provide a lag free game for you and your friend, as a matter of fact you should be able to do the full 4 in TH or Mission with relatively no problems.

As for TS with those speeds you should be all set for 8 to 10 person games without a problem as well.

Now that that is all said and done with, I'm sorry to let you know I have no idea why your having this problem then. I have never heard of anyone else having a problem like this in anyway....

    Sorry dude....

One more quick question, though this may not help you in anyway, but what versions of Xbox's are you running. There are technically 3 different Xbox's out there, the difference between them all is the CD drive. The very first releases had major problems, so they came out with the 2nd version which still had problems and now they have the 3rd version which is problem free.

The reason I ask is because I know when I used to use my first Xbox (the first version) while playing Counter Strike online the CD would stop spinning and it would have to reload itself. So I didn't have lag because of my internet, I had lag because the CD had to catch up to itself all the time.

Now the chances of this happening to you and your friend are pretty slim, but its something you may want to look into.

Then again if you both just bought your Xbox's then they are most likely version 3 and your all set......

Just trying to come up with something.....

I bought my XBOX from Wal-Mart less than 1 year ago(I think it was in October of 2003). So I believe that my version is the 3rd version. I am not sure how to tell which version I have, but I feel fairly confident that I have the latest.
Now, my friend has the first version. Which now makes me curious. Because he experienced a slight problem in some dumb NBA game the other day. I am wondering if his cd drive stops spinning when I am hosting so it boots him off of me. And when he hosts a game, it kicks me off because his cd drive stops spinning. Hmmmmmm.

But it still seems like a shot in the dark because we are not having the problem when we play other game types (sharpshooter, survival).

So GandalfWizard1, when you were on Counter Strike, how long did it take you to expierence any problems? The reason I ask is because when me and my friend have this problem, it is never at the beginning of a mission. It is usually after about 2 or 3 minutes.

    Thank you for your help,
    Paul
