I'm not one to complain but I really do feel this game shouldn't have been released with as many bugs as this.
My machine specs are as follows:
Asus A78NX Deluxe Revision 2 (uber bios 1004)
Hercules 128 AIW 9800SE@9800PRO (410/360) Cat 4.5
512mb 3200 DDR Samsung Ram (11-3-3-2.5)
Barton 2500+@3200+
WINXP SP1
*far cry is unpatched at this stage*
I am a constant tweaker of performance, my machine is optimised to the max, I've been using computers since I was about 5 years old...its a hobby that I'm sure many people here would be able to appreciate.
I bought Far Cry after playing 2 demos that were exciting and extremely visually impressive and I just thought "I have to buy this game" the demos both worked fine, smooth as a baby's bottom with all settings set to barring the texture filter (which was at High i think). These 2 demos were supposedly "unfinished" depictions of the game so I was thinking "well if these work fine then the full game should right?"...wrong.
The game arrived, I installed it fine, I ran it, the menu everything was fine. I ran the intro to the training and it ran fine. But as soon as I got outside, at the point where your helper is telling you to "check the huts and stay low" the game seems to wanna stop working. It crashes not precisely at that point but around that area and theres not a thing I can change to get it running in-game.
This constant crashing never once happened in the demo, so how could crytek have actually made the full version worse than the demo release? It seems ridiculous that such bugs were overlooked, and I can see by the amount of people having the same (and other) issues, that I am not the only one. Of course people running it fine will quickly jump in and point out my heavily overclocked machine or say that heat is probably the issue. But please think before posting that tripe, because I know what I'm doing and its the game that is at fault not my machine. True some people do not know much about overclocking so they think its bad news, some people even go as far as to say underclocking their machines will get the game running. NO...its wrong you should not have to downclock anything to get a game running. period.
Now I'm not here to flame crytek, I just feel that a game that I paid for should work as well as the demo released before it. After all Demos are there to indicate how the game will run on prospective machines and to help the user decide whether or not they wish to purchase said game. I played the demo, I wanted to buy the game...the game doesn't work ..but the demo does. Having to cycle through every conceivable setting's variations in the hope of striking lucky isn't my idea of tech support, so please post some actual solutions or patches that can get rid of these issues that people are so frequently experiencing.
Thanks for your time.
p.s. I have not yet installed patch 1.1 due to my university net connection being unstable (due to overuse by students...its wireless and it cuts out all the time) If I do manage to download the patch and it fixes my issue I will straight back here to apologise to and thank crytek.
