I preordered it 3weeks ago in the knowledge that it was supposed to be out in Australia in a week. Well i just heard from a mate at EB Games that it has now been delayed untill September 25th. If anyone knows the reason why can you let me know. Im hanging out for this game, it looks awesome.

Well, from what I read, the "Official" reason is that Eidos felt the summer sales of games were "soft", as they put it, and-even though Shellshock is supposedly finished and ready for distribution- they decided to delay it to get it out of the slow sales time. I have to agree with the editorial I read over at Gonegold.com a few weeks ago about this. Claiming that sales are "soft" because Hitman 3 -a game that is really just a rehash of two previous titles- didn't sell as well as expected is more than a bit silly. Pushing it back to where it gets to compete with Doom 3, Half Life 2, and Rome: Total War goes beyond silly. It's one of the stupidest marketing decisions I have ever heard of. What this really tells me is the game wasn't ready. I can't imagine them doing this if it was.

Thanks heaps quillan, that is a stupid move by them. My reasoning would be to release now while you have the chance to clean up in a slow market, be the one to turn the market around. As I said before I have heard nothing but good things about this game and to delay it just seems stupid. Thanks again quillan for the detailed intel.
