I am sure this has been asked but I have searched for about an hour with no luck finding it so I figured I would post and just ask, flame me if you want but I am looking for some serious feedback before I go spending this money.

    Which is better and why?

    Geforce FX 5900 Ultra 256MB
    or
    ATI 9800 PRO 256MB

I have a Geforce TI4600 right now.... so I am kinda partial to them but I want to know which is better before I go spend 400 Bucks on either card. Thanks.

i wouldn't bother spending more then 200 for a graphics card.

the profrmance difference does not justif the 200 hundred exra bucks.

But then again if you like p!ssing on money or using it light cigars then i would go with ATI.

ill get one of those babies within the next 6 months when the "next generation" Direct X9 of shooters (HL2, Deus Ex2, Stalker, etc) start coming out. probably go with Nvidia because ive allways had their cards, and didnt the Nvidia version beat the ATI version?

I thought the ATI came out on top? Well, maybe it's not these exact two chipsets that I saw tested.

Heres some advice, keep your Ti4600 until the day it wont run a game that you want to play.

The cards are equal. If you want visual quality, get the ATI. If you want raw speed in terms of fps, get the nVidia. One card is better than the other in about the same number of categories. And I believe you did get some good info: the latest cards are not worth the extra $200. Get a 9600 (avoid the 5600).
