The feeder outside the prison isn't needed to summon Shroomie. Just something to play with as far as I can tell.
Shroomie does get closer. I'm not entirely sure, but I do believe you have to get the XP1...
My Shroomie Pics Little dark, but I haven't adjusted the color and contrast yet.

Kest, your pics show Shroomie as close as I've ever seen her. There's a purported "screenshot" out there of Shroomie up close to the dock ... rumor has it the pic has been photoshopped. I just know she's never come that close for me.

I did see one where the entire area around the dock was filled with a pod of Shroomies. Apparently it was a hacked image where the person managed to get in and change the number of sighting up to about 40 or 50, don't remember which. I'm thinking it was a buggy though. I'm up around 30 to 40 sightings.

Kest, that's awesome. So what exactly did you do to get her so close? You said that the feeder closer to the prison caves is useless, does that mean I don't need to pull it's lever to see her? How many times should I pull the levers, and which? You aren't being mean and using photoshopped pics, are you? The strange rectangular thing I mentioned is across the bridge from the "useless" feeder. It's like a cage with no bars. Do you have any idea what it is or was used for?

The more times you see her, the closer she gets. So, no those are not Photoshopped. As for the 'cage', I'm thinking it's an incomplete feeder. Like there was going to be another one built there, but it never got finished.
As for using the other feeder by the gun. Just stand there and keep pulling. When the pollen has fallen, give it a pull.She'll appear once every three to four Teledahn Days, if you do that properly.
