I am trying to reinstall g.r. on my p.c. (was crashing in start up) and it got about 89% done and a message came up saying:

    component:Core game component
    file group:mods_sound_music
    file: F:\data2.cab
error: data error (cyclic redundancy checks)

and will not allow me to finish installing. I know I have the right system specs because it was working before on. Anyone know what is going on?

Check the green font thread "Problems? Look here first!", further down this page. It's got instructions how to do a full uninstall of the game.

Either what Amdrocks says or possibly it's your CD Rom.(=unable to read the copy protection). If you have a second drive (DVD, CDR-W) try run the cd from that one. Or if you could borrow a CD Rom from another system and try that. It's a quick operation and worth trying before swapping the CD and to find out if it is the disk.

Before doing that, do the full uninstall.

    Good luck.

    Copy that.
Since it's an install file: "F:\data2.cab", think we can pin it down to the CD not being able to read (from) the file and that can be because of previously mentioned 2 reasons.
