You do not need any type of internet connection.

You need at least 2 xbox's, 2 TV's, and 2 copies of the same game that supports System Link.

Just connect the 2 XBOX's together at the back, and thats it.

Thats why its called a LAN (LOCAL Area Network). No Wide Area Network needed!

but u do need the proper cable to connect the two XBOX's together. i thinks its just a standard ethernet cable (only cost $8-12), or patch cable.

also, u must make sure that both xboxs are running the same version of SCPT. if one of u has XBL, and has played the game online in MP...sorry but youve just screwed yourself, and wont be able to system-link.
the new auto-update your required to download before u play someone online changes what version of SCPT your running, and will make it incompatible w/ anyone who has never connected/updates from XB live.

so hopefully, you and your friend have never cnnected to XBL.

(p.s.....u can find patch/ethernet cables anywere...try office/home depot, any comp store, any game store, target or Fred Meyer.

You can use ethernet cables if your running a router to connect the Xboxes. Also another thing you should know is that you can connect 4 Xboxes so you can run a full game of SC in your house. If your only going to run two though you can buy the system link cable from BEst Buy or any other store BUT this cable only works for connecting 2 xboxes together and it is NOT an ethernet cable so you can not use it for anything else.

all the system link cable is....is a cross over cable...im not sure how much the xbox system link cable is...but you can probably get a regular cross over cable for cheaper than the stupid xbox one...or you can make your own with cat 5 cable...the wire order is - white/green, green, white/orange, blue, white/blue, orange, white/brown, brown

Hey, you aren't screwed if you connect to XBL with Pandora and want to play system link with somebody who doesn't have XBL or the update. Really, the only thing that is screwed is your savegame. To play with a 1.0 version of Pandora with an updated Pandora, just go into the Memory section of the Xbox Dashboard, and delete all of the savegames from your hard drive. This will delete the update allowing you to play with non-updated software.
