Thread: Pixel Shader??? | Forums

  1. #11
I have an MX440 and the game will not run due to a pixel shading problem. Have downloaded the latest Nvidia drivers and still have a problem. How daft can these people be ??? Is there a fix for this or do I just go get a refund and spend my money on something that works. Of course I could just upgrade my PC everytime UBI release a new game.....fools !

u should all see this as a wake up sign. You have outdated cards, i dont care if u just got it. Its outdated! Anyone with a brain could tell u that. You would be smart to go get another card, cuase there is no way u will run doom 3 or hl2 or any other new game that is to come out. If u do get any of those to run, its going to have to be in very low settings all around and u will still get like 20 fps max. Just saved up 200 dollars and get urself a mid-ranged card that will last u for a good 2 years before u actually have to upgrade again.
People seem to have forgotten that in the computer industry technology is always growing and changing, and u must keep up with it.
And do research on ur card next time before u buy it, so u dont waste ur money agian.

LOL! People, a Pixel Shader is part of the HARDWARE on the graphics card. You cannot download one off the internet! LOL!

You'll have to ditch the GF4MX and get a newer (read: supported!) card to play. I know it sucks and it might be supported in the future but you wouldn't want to play it on an MX anyways, it would run like straight a55 (not to mention looking crappy because of no shaders).

Eh. A lot of people don't care what a pixel shader is, nor should they have to. I just went through this with my parents. Seems they saw a TV commercial, dad got interested, and Mom picked up the game for him as a surprise.

What they didn't know is to check is the game requirements. Heck they have a pentium 3, 400mhz with a Voodoo3 card in it. It's that old. There needs to be a better way for 'normal' consumers to check their system to see if it works with this game or any high powered game. These people look at the requirements and immedietely their eyes glaze over. They have no clue what all those damn numbers mean. And they have no idea where to start to figure it out, assuming they even want too.

Suffice it to say I have seen this over and over and over again. I feel sorry for non computer savvy consumers that are caught in the upgrade loop. Yes, part of it is their fault. But part of it should be made easier as well.

actually no. If they went and spent the money, its their fault. Anyone smart knows to do research on something before they waste their money on it.
ya ever see that 70s show, where red forman is working for bob, and ppl keep coming up to him asking for a refrig. He asks, "well, what are u looking for in a fridge?". and what did his customers reply with? "I dunno, but i like the green color."
I think this is a excelent portrayal of how stupid consumers are. And this is how most of ya ended up with a MX lol.

I am going to respectfully disagree with you. Game requirements and figuring out what hardware your computer has is too hard for the average non tech savvy computer user. It should be easier. It is uncaring to expect everybody to have the same level of innate computer knowledge that some do.

Now if the consumer displays a complete disregard for any research at all before purchase, then yes, whatever ramifications that purchase has is their own fault. With my parents I had to tell them, "It's your own fault. You should of researched this". Software returns in the good ol' US of A are next to impossible. So they are stuck with a near 50 dollar purchase they can't use.

I fully understand your view on this, as I'm sure my grandparents wouldn't be able to figure it out either. But, if you spent alot of money on a computer (which you probably did) wouldn't you want to make sure you knew what was in it? It's just the fact that people need to pay more attention when they purchase a computer so that they don't run into incompatibilities later down the line.
