Thread: Option to disable external padlock | Forums

  1. #1
    A quickie for the devs.

It'd be great if you could include a server option to disable the external padlock, yet still retain external views. I hate flying online with external views enabled, as it makes using the stealthy capabilities of the Russian aircraft totally useless when the bogey can simply hit F5 to find where you are. But disabling external views also isn't the greatest solution, as you miss out on all the eye candy.

I'm sure this would be a simple option to include - if any fellow Lomaniacs agree please post in this thread.

    I think, therefore I am... I think?

    System specs: Athlon 64 3400+, 768MB DDR400, RADEON 9800XT, Audigy 2 Platinum eX, K8NNXP mobo, Sony G520 21" monitor, WinXP Pro w/ SP1, 1.5Mbit ADSL. Yes, it's love.

Combined with possible radar issues for the F15 and the obvious fact that its very difficult to see aircraft, the problem here will be that F15 drivers will have an incredibly difficult time finding the enemy at all if features such as external padlock are removed.

Yes, it will definately add to the stealth capabilities of the Russians, but IMO the last thing this game needs right now is something that makes it even more difficult for F15 and A10 flyers.

Furthermore, if you are desperately opposed to the F5 view, I don't think you will have that much trouble losing the other external views.

However, as something that gives more options to the host, I guess I can't really complain.

Not until they fix the F-15 radar and the Russian jammers. 15's won't have a chance if they do that.

Well, we know the ECM problem should be getting fixed in the next patch. It just feels so arcadey being able to external lock bogies, and makes it a bit of a kid's game (imho). And yet I don't want to miss out on all the sexy eye candy.

Oh well, guess I'll just have to get used to no external views.
