Depends on your system and personal preferences. The difference is, well, it's a completely different game from a different developerFlying modern jets with standoff weapons is also something very different from WW2 air combat.
I personally like Lock On very much, but keep in mind that
- it takes a more powerful system to run Lock On fludily compared to Il2/FB
- the lurning curve is higher to understand all the avionics, especially if you never played a similar sim before (the manual is rather bad, but you can get all the help you need here from the community)
- it is not as polished yet as Il2/FB after all the patches. Lock On does have some problems with various system combinations; be prepared to spend some time tweaking and testing settings
Overall though, if you're a fan of simulated flying, you really shouldn't miss it.

If you want a good jet sim and have a system thats up for it then yes. There are a few bugs in the works but the guys at ED are working on it and they keep us informed on whats fixed an whats not(yet). The sim itself can be quite gritty at times but it usually is a case of learning to use all the systems at your disposal to survive!
If you're not sure, wait a while, and watch the community get bigger and the game get better and better with the patches. It has my vote.
It's of course more complex than FB but only in a good way.
Hope this helps.

High frames rates reign supreme!
Both games have their advantages and I believe both games to be more than worth the price charged. LOMAC planes are like spaceships next to Il2 planes and they feel very heavy as they should. I went back to Il2 before the patch and since the patch I have played both il2 planes are like paper kites in comparason and you can feel that difference. As far as I can tell that speaks for both simms. There is also the bit abou tmissiles and RADAR it all is about the same in termes of difficulty as an intence WW2 knife fight in very different ways. LOMAC is about knowing when to duck.
ok

Yes it is, at medium settings.
You won't be able to run smoothly at max settings, but then again, nobody is.
