When in doubt, press Console
I'm not afraid anymore, Tommy
More like, when in doubt, just keep playing and wait for the answer to come to you...
You don't have to find that button right away, sure it makes the game faster, but who wants to beat Riven quickly!!!? If you can't find the button just ignore the Whark for the time being and play on, you'll find out what's in there later...

That button is in NO way easy to find. It's a completely mindless spot. It took me FOREVER to finally find it.
Gay Republican?! Yes, it is possible. Please vote!
Absolutely Fabulous!
Ya know, you don't have to find that button to beat the game. There's another way to get into the god-like-statue that doesn't involve a "pixel hunt." Finding the button before getting into the statue the other way is basically a short-cut.
LOL... I was convinced early in the game that those little "balls" at the foot of Gehn's imager (in front of the Whark sculptures, mixed in among the "offerings") had interactive buttons on them. Click, nothing. Over to the other Whark: Click, nothing. So I began ignoring "buttons" and as a result missed the Whark statue "shortcut."
