Thread: LOMAC - P4 overclocking | Forums

    Hi,
i know this isn`t a hardware forum but the level of experience gathered here to push our systems to the limit seems impressive...
As we all are LOMAC fanatics and want the best performance for it, I would like to know how high I can overclock my Pentium 2.4 (multiplier 18 and FSB 133) without risking fire in my computer....

    P4 2.4(FSB 533)- 1024 MB DDR PC2700 - ATI 9800 Pro 128Mb with Windows XP Pro and Lock-on rocks with it !

My P4 2.4 (with some rather obscure Gigabyte mobo) says stop at 2800MHz or so, 143 or 144 FSB. Standard cooling, some ****y fan that came with the PC.

Lock On just CTDs, I need to tweak my mem timings, but still abit of a n00b in that area...

Normally, you don't risk frying anything, as the system will stop before it gets damaged, but....everything is at your own risk!

LOL! Chances are if you ever reached the flashpoint temp of your system components, your processor would have been fried long before =)

I have pretty much the same system as you do, (except I have ATI All-In-Wonder 9700, not 9800)... the highest overclocking I can go is 109%, not sure if it will bee "safe" for your machine. Who knows, maybe you can go even higher. Get one of those programs that automatically adjusts the highest overclocking your system can handle... without frying it.

I'm running mine at 3GHz on an Asus P4P800. CPU is at 250 external frequency and mem is set to 5:4 (which still works out to 400 Mhz at a 1Ghz FSB). It's important to lock the AGP/PCI frequency at 66.66/33.33 - don't leave on "auto". And as always, good quality RAM sure helps too.
    Good luck!

Sorry, I didn't read your full post...I thought you were on an 800 FSB system.
