Thread: Users complaining about late release of localized Versions... | Forums

    Hi all,

Since Ubi was planning to postpone the english patch just because the localized french+german versions are not ready (to be correct: as far as I got it, they will release the english patch ASAP now):

The german+french users were not upset because of "none localized Version" but of having NO Version at all. I would have bought the english version in a german shop, if they would only sell them.

But they do not, they have to wait for the F**** localized versions, and i am sorry to say so, the localized Versions of Flight sims most times REALLY suck!

FOr example Microprose translated the *****in Betty to german....oh what pain...

So I had to order the imported US-Version by mail, which is quite expensive.

So ubi should ask themselves, where the outcry from german+french(+other localized versions) users come from?
Not because they had to wait for a LOCALIZED version, just because they had no chance to buy an english one in a german shop!

And certainly, if the english patch comes out now, these "localized" users will be upset again. Because they have to wait for the localized version...because they HAD TO buy these Versions.

But they should see it in this way: the english users are doing patch beta-testing and if there are some serious bugs, maybe the localized versions do not have them...

I had the chance to buy the imported US version in a german shop. I did not, maybe it was a mistake.

It is not a problem for me, that the localized patch will be released a few days later. But I see problems for Multiplayer games...

You say it's expensive to import a game from the US, but why not try to find a copy a little closer to home?
I live in Holland, and (almost) every game in the shops here are English. Sometimes the manual may be translated, but thats it. You could try ordering it in Holland, or maybe in the UK, so you're sure everything is in English.

Try play.com They have free delivery all over Europe (I think), and most games (dvd's and cd's too) are available there... You'll need a credit card, but as long as you're 18+ that's not a real problem (ask a family member if you're younger)

    Hi DrBob,

maybe my posting was not clear in this point, I am sorry.
I did not order the Game in USA, I did it at a german mail order shop. But they have to import these software as well, as in my case, the english version was sold out (it is quite in great demand, as it seems...) and so I had to buy the imported US-Version for 57EURO. To COmpare: the localized german version is 43.90EUR and the english 44.50, but the english one is sold out for quite some time...

I am not quite sure, what "should" be in the box (a quickref sheet or something), but the localized german version did not even have the manual as PDF on CD, as it seems...

Ordering in England or Holland (simw.com) would have been even more expensive.

    Hi Crashman,

the only problem is to find a shop selling these US/English-versions. Years before there were some small shops around, selling games in original versions and so on.
But most of them have switched to mail order only, because otherwise they have no chance against the "big ones".

Funny thing: I HAD to buy the localized german version of Call of Duty, because the international is illegal due to new laws in germany...even if you are over 18...

Is that because of Germany's hatred of the Swastika still?

I bought the Ger version for 39,99â€. It's hard to get the US version here. Imports and USK 18 games can only be bought with identity card. I don't wanna give it (or any info on it) away via internet - that's how I'd order the game.

I just hope there are some freaks out there that get those version running with the English patch . I for one wouldn't care if half of my LOMAC would be english then... localization is crap anyway - just imagine US or Russian pilots speaking German - there are even some serious "bugs" in those translated speech files...

    Hi Haele

"Is that because of Germany's hatred of the Swastika still?"

Yes, thats the point. But instead of just eliminating all flags of this kind, they also translated the entire game to german...argh.

But I have to admit, this is one of the better localisations I have found.

    ================================================

    Willey:
Thatâ´s the point. Not everyone is willing to take the effort to find a original version and HAS to buy the localized.

Please mail your experiences to UBI!!! Otherwise they will never learn.
Is your manual also missing on CD? ok, you can download it now, but in my eyes UBI should change the CD if users ask for it.

I wrote Microprose about the german *****in betty and all the wrong translations, when Falcon4 came out.
They offered me to change my CD to an english version for free, which I certainly did! Hey, thatâ´s customer service!

But as far as I know, there are some mods around, making an english version out of a german Falcon 4.0, so you can install all english patches and Superpacks...

Hopefully for all localized users, some cracks will find out that way for LOMAC as well...
