hello all. i just bought an ati radeon 9800 non pro and i cant get it to work in windows xp with sp1. i cant get it to work without sp1 as well. when i load the drivers my monitor conks out like if it was in sleep mode and i have to do a cold boot for it to start up again, the only way it works is if i load windows without any drivers loaded. okay i tried catalyst 3.6 to 3.9 all the same result. i read the f*cking manual and follow all steps to a T. i even try some tricks like updating the drivers from the device manager with the same result. i am at a loss, i am ready to take this POS back to the store for a refund and stick my old geforce ti 4400 back in.

okay i am running the following system

abit sr7 8x with all the latest drivers and bios
hercules fortissimo 7.1 digital sound with the 609 drivers
4 hard drives totalling 280 gigabytes
plextor cd rw 52/24/52
plextor dvd rw 16/4/32
iwill side raid 66 pci card with default drivers

anybody have any ideas?

You would have a SiS chipset...ugh. Make sure AGP voltage is set to 1.6 or 1.7 in bios and AGP latency at 66

i have the sis agp driver installed as per the manual but my bios does not allow agp voltage tweaks, only cpu and memory voltage. i did a complete reinstall and blew out the old xp install did a fresh install with sp1 and without and i still get crashes. i let the splash screen stay on for about 20 mins then i hit the reset button. your ugh about the sis chipset does not sound good to me. try setting to 4 x's agp and fast writes off in bios..... SiS IMO has some of the worst chipsets with 8X's support
