I recently bought an ATi Radeon 9600 pro 256mb Graphics card, and even more recently i bought LO.
the first time i ran the game, the main menu was all white and corrupted, and it was impossible to navigate it(this was on WINME). I then got the patch and ran it on XP, the menu worked and i could launch the game but it has since been very jerky and there have been serverel syetem crahses even though i have the graphics set to low.
does anybody have a possible solution?
    thanks

Try disabling Fastwrites and setting AGP to 4X instead of 8X. Maybe this helps.

    Hi

I had the same problems and solved them doing this:

Go to the respective websites and download:
motherboard latest drivers and latest chipset drivers (very important since it will let you enable fast write and set agp to 8x)
    latest cpu drivers.
Be advised that if you disable fastwrite and set agp to 4x you will be underexploting your 9600 so i strongly recommend u to find the drivers of the chipset.
    latest catalyst drivers
and in general all the latest drivers of your hardware (soundcard, ...)
After doing so i have finally been abble to run lomac with graphics set to med-high and getting 20-30 fps in cockpit, 30-40 fps outside.
Hope this is useful. godd hunting!

yep, I have a 9600xt. I did the same thing as mentioned above. I download all of the latest drivers and I get about 30-40fps, at the least.

You wonâ´t notice the difference. I benchmarked lomac (F15 low flying track) with AGP 4x and 8X and got exactly the same FPS, and my system is more stable, as I havenâ´t experienced any lock ups since. (Iâ´m using a 9800XT, but anyway).Nevertheless, over 25 FPS it seems you wonâ´t notice the difference, cause the eye canâ´t process over that number (thatâ´s what Iâ´ve read).

ok, on my ATi Control panel, the fastwrite option is grayed out. ie i can;t click on it, and i am a bit confused about updating my motherboard and cpu drivers, i have no idea what the specifictation/model name is for my motherboard, is there any way to find out without opening up my pc?
    thanks

I have some questions..I searched for drivers for my chipset and motherboard.I didn't find any.I also have a 9600.Apart from farely low fps, at times(but still trying to tweak these),everything seems to be running fine. But now I noticed , that in my bios, there is no option to switch to agp 4X or agp 8X(where normally there should be, since I downloaded the manual). So then I thought of flashing the bios, but I read that this is dangerous, if you don't have the right upgrade. I didn't even find an upgrade anyhow. And when I try to put my agp on 4X or 8X,in the menu the catalyst drivers(latest version), it works, but you have to reboot your machine for this. So I do this, but when I go back to the menu afterwards, nothing has changed in the "smartstart" menu. Normally, my motherboard supports 4X and 8X AGP.So I don't understand, why I can't change these settings. And so I also, if these 4X and 8X AGP make a hell of a lot difference in the graphics performance, compared to the agp on off. I have 1894 3D marks (v2003).

    anyone have some tips?
