Thread: ATi X800pro...performance? | Forums

  1. #1
    Specs:

    P4 3.0
    1 Gig DDR400 RAM
    ATi X800pro 256

I play the game at 1280x1024 with all the settings at Very High, except shadows which are at medium, water at U. High.

I am using AA LOW, AF 4 (in game menu). I get about 30-45 fps outside and 45-70 fps inside. Although it does slow down somewhat during certain parts of the game to 25fps for a second or so. 3dMark03 score is 9800 approx.

Is this normal? Should I turn on the Overdrive feature, does this make a difference?

    Thanks!

Although I dont know what score an x800pro would get it seems about right. As for the overdrive feature, yes turn it on it can help a little (basically raises the MHz up a bit), the temp of the card might increase if it's too hot then you might want it off in that case.

that's almost exactly what i get, except i have shadows on high. There is really no need to use overdrive unless the game dips below 30 often, which it doesn't.

Seems about right for that resolution. Resolutions above 1024x728 really tax the system no matter what card you may have.

Check the HardOCP article re CPU/GPU scaling for a good reference of what to expect.

How strange, it seems that with the X800 the fps between 1024x7 and 1280x1024 are almost the same...

Without AA or AF, I got the same scores at 1024,1280 and 1600.

With AF and AA at max, I got the same score on 1024.

I would expect the X800 Pro to perform at that same level.

to get your fps up on screen the console command is \displayinfo 1 and to turn off \displayinfo 0.I have an X800pro but i run my core at 514 instead of 475 and through overdrive i saw about 1 degree rise in core temp (all stock).I run at a res of 1152 by 864 rendermode is set to paradise (need to use console commands as well to change this \r_rendermode 2) (pick a number between 0 and 4)outside i get 38fps to 89fps and the avg is about 51fps.Inside i get between 45fps and 130fps i run all settings maxed out expect for anti aliasing which is set to medium.for any overclockers have a look at this heatsink which will keep your temps down when overclocking http://www.zalman.co.kr/eng/product/...x=138&code=013
with that heatsink hope to get core to 570 maybe more
