Thread: Driver problems (Nvidia) | Forums

  1. #1
I am having problems running the game with anything but the 52.16 drives

With anything later my display blanks as the graphics initilize, or somtimes the load bar just stops as it nears the end.

I've tried differant setting both game and driver..fast writes ect..but nothing seems to help.

I don't want to be stuck with the 52.16's.

    Mobo Gigabyte GA-7ZM kt133
    Athlon 1400
    512 Pc133
    MSI 5700 ULTRA

I know my PC's getting a bit long in the tooth but I'm still happy..ish.. with my pefomance in Far Cry and other games and I don't suffer this problem with any thing else.

    Any idears?

    moon-unit

    Thanks for the reply.

I'm using 98se and the latest drivers ATM are 53.06. Hoping to try the 56 series soon.

I've also tried various chipset drivers, but the problem does seem to rest with the Forceware drivers.

I am wondering if if could be a problem with me running a very new card on a very old Mobo.

you could well be right - wait for the final release, things should be better optimized then.

Sell your nvidia card, you can get a 9600pro, which is just as good or better, and you will probably have money left over to put towards your other upgrades.

For every Nvidia product, there is a faster more reliable ATI product that retails for less. And the issue of ati driver instability was over like 2 or 3 years ago. The only people who bring it up are people who never owned a radeon.

    Cheers for your input.

When I bought my card I visited a lot of forums and they were a lot of people having serious problems getting ATI cards working with older Mobo's, hence my choice, othwise I would have tried a 9600XT.

Anyway the 56.55's have solved the prob and I'm now running the demo really will in Open GL.

The only problem is that you probably payed alot for that card, when you could have had a 9600 radeon that run the game in DirectX 9.

OpenGl can not produce the eye candy that DirectX 9 can.

Problems with radeon drivers are human error 99 percent of the time, not issues with incompatibility.

The only thing Nvidia tops ATI in these days is marketing lol.
