Could you be more specific ?
The savesystem works so that there are checkpoints.. So it doesn't save the game until you have moved through a savepoint. After that you'll see savegames in the load game -list..
If you want to use quicksave, type "\save_game" in console.. You can also use different filenames like "\save_game save1" and when you want to load, type "\load_game save1"

That's sad. I love this game in so many other ways. If the developers choose to leave out a means for me to save when or where I want....

Well, there are other games.
