Mouse Unresponsive at Main Menu | Forums

I bout IL-2 FB earlier today. I installed it along with the latest patch. When I started the game it was totally unresponive mouse would not move for a long time and then suddenly fly across the screen. I decided to bump down my settings and it was still very similar. I don't know what to do. My specs are as follows:
Athlon XP Tbred 1800+ overclocked to a 200+
Geforce 4 Ti 4200
512 MB PC2100
I know my system is dated, but there has to be another problem. Any help would be appreciated

I have the same problem from time to time. No idea whats causing it.

If press ctrl+escape to back to windows (I'm using winxp) and then go back to Il2, the mouse works again.
