Thread: Different goggle variations | Forums

  1. #1
When SCPT first came out I thought spies goggles were randomly choosen from a few variations. The Penny-Arcade comic has one spy with a different set-up than the five lense one that I only see now. Where/why did the other ones go? I liked a new style each time I played.

I thought that the spies had different layouts for their lenses on their goggles. Did I imagine that? When SCPT first came out. You're telling me there have never been different goggle variations?

Well, the penny arcade comic you saw was that of a Shadownet spy. The multiplayer spy is refered to as "Shadownet" which is another splinter Cell operating like Sam Fisher. Sam is the only one who has the 3 lens googles. The shadownet spy has 4 small lens and 1 big one in the middle.

So essentially there are 2 variations to the NVG goggles in SC;PT.

The one is my sig has only 3, which is like Sam but different. Only these arent the goggles that appear for the shadownet spies.

Background intell on Multiplayer I do not need. Goggles looked different in multiplayer before. There was one with just one lense in the middle, the one in the comic, the five lense one (also in comic) that is the only one I've been seeing. If nobody remembers those just let this die.

Those were just early concepts of shadownet...and the penny arcade comic depicted spies with different lenses to differentiate the two.

Yeah, there were early concept arts with the spies having several different goggle set-ups. One was the normal Sam Fisher set-up (3 in a triangle), one was a monocle kind of thing (only 1 goggle over 1 eye), and one was the one we have now (5, 4 outer ones in a rectangle around 1 center one). However, the first two didn't make their way into the game. They were just ideas, I suppose.
