At the demo loop thats playing and just consistently when ever FarCry is loaded my mouse will just freeze up along with all the graphics dropping to what seems like 1 fps for like a 1/2 a second then it will go back to normal for about 15 secs then repeat. It does this no matter what resolution or quality I put the textures on. I believe AF and AA are off. ( i disabled them in the options menu)
System specs
______________
2.4 P4 Chip
1 Gig DDR
ECS P4S5A/DX+ Motherbord
Onboard sound C-Media/SiS
Radeon 9700 (not pro)
I tried both 4.3 and 3.9 Catalyst Drivers. Both ended in same result.
Anyone have an Idea why it stutters at a consistant rate and so often on any setting?
Even better a way to fix it?
Its not like it just does it during game play even the stupid demo loop that it plays in the options menu with the background demo turned off the Mouse still sticks. In game play it does the same thing except all the graphics bog down as well.
Grrr, it fustrates me im just so clueless as to what it may be. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you!!!

I'm having the same problem. The graphic freezing seems to occur alot more frequently when I try higher settings so the game doesn't look so bad. (medium on some options instead of low on all options). Even on all low settings graphics can freeze up. It's happened so bad that the sound goes out of synch with the video, and once the sound is finished playing the game seems to kick in again and goes through the motions without the sound. Basically the graphics lock right up with a frame rate of 1 every ten seconds ....and if I wait a few minutes it becomes playable again until the next such freez. I know AI can eat up resources but there's no ennemies around when these happen so I dont' feel it's that.
I dont' have a great state of the art system but I think what I have should be able to run this game better than it does.
AMD 1.2 Tbird
384mb sdram
Radeon 8500LE 64mb ddr ram with the recommended cat 3.9 drivers
Audigy 1 platinum
Attempted resolution was 800x600
Seems unplayable

Even at the options menu with the demo loop in the background turned off it "pauses"....
WHY????
~bump~
anyone?
-
yeah it did that to me too, i just turned off the background loop, see this post
weird freezing problems
it just backs up everything i've said since i found this bug, nobody believed me, peoples whos games worked fine were saying i was in denial lol, basically mate its a bug, and it'll be fixed, we just gotta wait, i think its something to do with the movement of the vehicles, cause when their unoccupied and not moving, they dont cause this problem

I have more or less the same problem.
Usually when vehicles are in the direction i'm looking (even though i dont have to see them), the game will SLOW until i can look away from them. When I'm in a car this happens more frequently, but sometimes i can fix it by exiting/entering the car.
Also restarting the game causes less such slowdowns for the firsts minutes
This IS a bug, It appears even when I run the lowest settings.

No that is just you... It only pauses at a max for like half a second.
This "pausing" of mine happens even before I load a map. Like at the options screen after the CryTech intro plays.

I'm having the same problem...but mine pauses every 2-3 seconds. The pause lasts about half a second. The pauses happen in EVERY part of the game including the Crytek and Ubisoft logo movies, the main menu, the main game, the intro movie, etc... This must be some weird code in their main engine loop or something. I'm surprised they didn't fix it in their first patch...seems like an easy thing to track down.
