DS and IT are mission packs that only contain 8 missions a piece while GR has 15. And the combat is essentially similar between the 3.

GR (original) has incredible variety to its missions and maps. I've finished GR, DS, and am halway thru IT and I think my preference is desert fighting. I really liked the desert scenery and clarity of vision in DS. The two desert night missions were awesome - especially the one with the downed Aurora.

Jungle fighting (IT) can be a biatch. In the 2nd IT mission, it's raining and dark and you can barely see 20 feet ahead of you. I don't think I ever cursed as much as I did in that mission.

So my final answer is...all three! They are all so excellent the only answer is to get the Gold Edition with GR, DS and IT. Really, saving the few bucks by just getting one isn't worth it.

Get the Gold Edition because most Mods require one or both of the expansions and almost all servers require at least DS and IT. My experience with DS and IT is opposite of Chiles4. I almost smashed the expansion CD several times during DS because I can't see [expletive deleted] on those day maps. In the night maps the TANGOS (and allies) glow like radioactive cartoon characters...

Very true, Bucko, in terms of night vs. day. But IT tends to be very foggy. In that 2nd IT mission, it was like walking through soup. But you're right, nothing beats NVGs on a dark night.

The mission that I performed my very worst was the Beach-Hotel Mission in IT. They put in moonlight which made the NVGs alot less effective. I got capped so many times I still get mad thinking about it.

On missions where the map is set at dusk or raining, I sometimes just go with NVGs all the way. Not being able to see in GR is absolutely fatal.

    To Chiles4,

I guess you have worked it out but if you haven't just click edit message just above your name. Then scroll down to the bottom white square where you text is and delete the second or repeated text.
